Sports Trinity partners with Cornell

Sports Trinity has partnered with Cornell, bringing collegiate squash players and student volunteers into the work of collecting, refurbishing, and delivering equipment to under-resourced youth programs.

Collegiate players, surplus equipment

Competitive collegiate squash runs through equipment quickly. Players rotate rackets over a season, and the gear that comes out of that rotation is typically high quality and has plenty of playing life left in it.

That equipment is exactly what a beginning player needs, and it is usually far better than anything a starting program could afford to buy new.

Students as volunteers

The partnership is not only about equipment. Student volunteers help sort and refurbish donations, and they bring something we cannot buy: people who actually play the sport at a high level and can show a beginner how to hold a racket properly.

For a child receiving their first racket, having someone demonstrate a proper grip and a basic swing turns a donated object into an actual introduction to the game.

Building a repeatable model

We see this partnership as a template. University athletic programs across the country generate surplus equipment every season and are full of students looking for meaningful volunteer work.

If the model works here, it can be repeated at any school with a varsity racquet program, which is a large part of how we intend to grow.
